Economic instability is one of the greatest struggles farmers face, but it is also one of the greatest barriers to more sustainable food production. If farmers are to meet legislative and consumer demand for producing more with minimal impact - or even positive impact - on the environment, we need to first address the realities and challenges related to the costs of farming.
